Question
Charging battery connected to bike?
I have just bought the maintenance charger 1.25amp. It has connectors to attach to the battery and says on box "connectors allow half battrey loom connected to the battery." Am I right in thinking I can connect the charger when not in use without disconnecting the battery completely.

Simply, Yes. Once set up, it's like plugging your phone/laptop into the mains. You just plug the charger into your bike and switch on the mains electricity. It's just as quick and simple.

You can leave the battery terminal leads attached to the bike to make it easier for charging in the future. You can also leave the battery connected to the bike during charging so when you need to charge simply plug the charger to the leads!

Daft question; Does 3.0Ah printed on my battery mean I need the 3amp version of the charger?

it's not a daft question, the 3Ah means that the battery should be charged at a maximum of 3 Amps per hour, any more than this will reduce the life of your battery; the 1.25 Amps is an ideal low charge to bring your battery up to it's required voltage without overcharging.

answer 2
3Ah refers to the battery size. i.e. 3 amp/hours. It does not need a 3amp charger to charge it. The 1.25amp charger is perfectly ok

Normally that's fine with most maintenance chargers because the battery is essentially isolated by the ignition switch. If in doubt just disconnect the battery, leave it in place and just tape off the bike's battery leads before connecting the charger

Should be fine, most manufacturers don't recommend it as it can start drawing too much from the charger which makes it overheat and start popping fuses.

However, as long as you disconnect it IMMEDIATELY after starting it you should have no problems (it might void your warranty though)

No This product is not intended as a booster and would not have enough power to act as one. It slowly charges the battery over time. You will need a jump starter for this purpose such as the Dynamic Jump Starter (210930).

Question
How long will this charger take to charge a battery to full?
I'd like to know how long you have to leave this charger on ie over night or will 4 or 5 hours do? I have bought this charger and this is the the first time I have used it, there was not an instruction leaflet. The light is on the middle symbol which I assume is the "full" symbol but when I disconnect the battery it does not change. Im not even sure it is working! Any advice would be great, Thank you.

It's a maintainence charger, the idea is that you leave it on the battery whilst it's in storage I.E. Not being used so that the battery remains charged and thus healthly (over or under charging batteries will damage them).

To answer your question you'd probably have to charge it for 24hrs just to be sure. Ask in store about the notification lights

Left hand light is charging mode, middle light is fully charged and right hand light is incorrect polarity connection. Charge time will vary on condition and size of battery. This small 1.25 Amp charger will take a few hours to charge a larger battery.
