If the paint feels smooth to the touch after washing(run your hand over the surface) than yes, just apply the wax.If the surface feels rough and gritty, you will need to clay the car after washing with a clay bar before applying the wax.

Clear away ALL previous waxes and contaminants. Find a good Shampoo that says it'll clear it. Don't use a wash wax! A clay bar is perfect for getting all ingrained grime off. Use if you have never done any proper prep before.

Autoglym recommend the paint be pre cleaned with hd cleanser first, the paint work on my car was highly polished with other autoglym polishes so tried it without, didnt need it as the hd wax took without it car looks better then ever!

Other than clean, dry, and well maintained paintwork no special requirements. I imagine use of clay bar before would be the ultimate prep

answer 5
I clay barred my car prior to using this as it makes the paintwork as smooth as glass, which meant this was really easy to apply as the clay takes all the little bumbs of the paint surface first, Hope this helps
