What is the difference between a Lead Acid Battery and a Calcium Battery ?

Quote from Wikipedia:
"Car batteries using lead-antimony plates would require regular watering top-up to replace water lost due to electrolysis on each charging cycle. By changing the alloying element to calcium, more recent designs have lower water loss unless overcharged. Modern car batteries have reduced maintenance requirements, and may not provide caps for addition of water to the cells. Such batteries include extra electrolyte above the plates to allow for losses during the battery life."

I think this means, in short, that the Calcium batteries tend to have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance.

Both are lead acid batteries but Calcium uses newer technology for increased performance and improved battery life.

Question
Can these calcium batteries be re-charged with a normal battery re-charger, or is a special battery charger required?
Also I use a carcoon to protect my classic car when not in use. This has a battery management system that feeds a constant trickle charge. Can this be used with the calcium battery type?

Yes Halfords Calcium batteries can be charged with a normal battery charger. Your trickle charger should be compatible but check with the charger manufacturer first.

Question
Discharge
I have one of these batteries which was purchased in january 2009, when initially fitted it was brilliant. Now if i do not use my car for 3 days the battery is too flat to start my car. The alternator charges at 13.4v with all consumers turned on (blower, lights, heated window etc), there is a 0.03 amp current draw after 2 minutes of locking car up. The battery was tested in spring and found to be 73% charged (after being driven for 5 hours solid during daytime, ie. no lights on) which seems poor to me. The vehicle is generally in daily use, is it possible there could be a defective cell or two in the battery? Also cannot find receipt but can track exact date by transaction through bank.
