If "ordinary gearbox grease" is being specified then the application does not sound to be too demanding and this product should be fine.

The Comma multipurpose grease is a lithium based grease and is suitable for use for most automotive applications including hubs, universal joints, chassis and general greasing. It is sound lubrication practice to remove old grease before a new grease is introduced. If used grease cannot be removed, Comma Multipurpose grease is generally compatible with other lithium greases. When mixed with other grease types, this grease should be satisfactory below an operating temperature of 80C.
