Unfortunately the listing we have for power steering fluid for this vehicle refers to a specialist product that we do not carry in our range. We would therefore recommend that you contact your nearest main dealer for the correct product in this instance.

Halfords GM6137M automatic transmission fluid is a Dexron II (724930) type fluid which were used in a number of power steering applications in the 1970's and 1980's.
You might also find Halfords Power Steering Fluid (575159) to be suitable. It is based on the same technology but contains a special additive to help preserve the seals in the power steering system.

Vauxhall 1.4 Astra's between 1991 and 2004 used a product meeting the GM Dexron II specification in their automatic gearboxes. Halfords GM6137M DII fluid meets this specification so is the correct choice.

Honda used a special power steering fluid for some of their Civics. Check in your owners manual. If it talks about a "Dexron II" fluid being suitable then this product will be fine.

Question
Why don't Halfords list the alternative specifications for power steering fluid alternatives?
Hi, My owners manual for my wifes Nissan sunny sequel (1995 1.4 T.O.H.C - inj) only quotes dexTron DOT3 fluid for power steering fluid.
Several ambiguous sites relate this to SAE J 1730 or FMVSS no 116... Could you please advise clearly which of your products is appropriate. As with engine /transmission oils its important to obtain / use the correct composition of oil and ensure the specification is correct for the vehicle / system in question. You sites 'specifications' tab for each product is woefully vague.
thanks

"I think there is some confusion here.
FMVSS 116 and DOT 4 refer to brake fluid specifications.
Dexron II is a GM trademark for a specification used widely in automatic transmissions or power steering applications.
Halfords GM6137M DII fluid should be fine for the Power Steering of your wife's Nissan Sunny. Halfords Power Steering Fluid (575159) would be better still. But please keep both of these products well away from the brakes."

We would recommend that the product you need for this vehicle is CHF 11S. If the current fluid is green in colour then it will be CHF 11S which we also sell - see Central Hydraulic Fluid (CHF).

Our listings show that the 1.2 litre 8 or 16 valve Fiat Punto between 1999 and 2003 used a power steering fluid that met the GM Dexron II specification. On this basis our GM6137M DII fluid will be just fine.

We do not have records specifically for the automatic version of the Xsara Picasso. However most Citroen's use a Dexron II fluid as their ATF and if this is the case then this product will be fine.

The correct product for your 2004 Peugeot 206 is Halfords Power Steering Fluid. We would not recommend using anything other than this product as it meets the manfuacturers requirements for this application.
