answer 2
2-Stroke Oil is the type that is mixed with fuel, either by premixing manually before adding it to the fuel tank or, in more modern systems, via a separate tank and pump that mixes the oil with the fuel automatically as you drive. 2 Stroke Oil is burnt along with the fuel and therefore needs regularly replacing. 2-Stroke Oil is not suitable for use as a sump oil that you would typically find in car engine. This would be described as a 4-Stroke oil.

I notice that the bottle says '2 stroke engine oil'... so i'm wondering if this is engine oil..or the oil that goes in the tank under my petrol tank?

this is to go in the tank under your seat. it is not for lubricating the bottom end engine/gearbox. 2 stroke oil mixes with the fuel and lubricates the top end before being burned along with the fuel and as such needs to be constantly checked and topped up. regards, ian

Yep no problem at all as the requirements are similar, however i would urge you to use a marine based 2 stroke oil as it contains more corrosion inhibitors and properties that aid starting....

answer 2
Some marine applications have a requirement for a particularly 2-Stroke specification that is not carried on Halfords Motorcycle and Scooter Engine Oil 2 Stroke. It would therefore be best to check in the owner's handbook or with the engine manufacturer or marine application specialist whether there are any specific requirements for 2 Stroke for your engine before purchasing the Halfords product.

Hi, thanks for your interest in Halfords products. Halfords Motorcycle and Scooter Engine Oil 2 Stroke 1ltr is made predominantly from components that are derived from the refining of crude oil and in that sense it can be described as 'petroleum' or 'mineral' based. Hope this helps. Thanks.
