Will this ensure my moped will pass the MOT exhaust test?

The hole in the exhaust is where there was an elbow joint connected to a rubber pipe going to the engine sending some exhaust fumes back to the engine. The elbow joint has rusted off leaving a hole. can I just seal the hole rather than replace the entire exhaust in order to pass the MOT or is it essential that some of the exhaust fumes are channeled back into the engine?

Depending on how badly corroded the exhaust is will decide how effective the repair will be. However it is worth mentioning that the bandage is only a temporary repair.
