Both these rood boxes cover half the roof allowing for ski or bikes to be attached to the other side of the cars roof

All roofboxs require roof bars that fit acroos the roof to allow the attachement of the roof box.
"U Clamps" are provided to then attach the roof box and roof bars together

Most roof boxes will fit your vehicle. We recommend up to a maximum of 480L
The "u Clamps" provided are universal and will fit most roof bars to allow attachement of the roof box
Roof bars across the cars roof are required to attach the box to.

The Halfords Exodus 360L Carbon Roof Box
itemcode: 925503 is 41CM high as is the Halfords 360L Silver Roof Box
itemcode: 599811
However this does not take into account the hight of you roof bars on the car, so this would have to be taken into account when judging if this meets the tunnel height restriction.
The Halfords 350L Grey Roof Box
itemcode: 925511 is only 35CM high (excluding roof bars)

Roof Boxs are not supposed to affect the vision on the driver. Therefore they should not hang over the front of the windscreen at all

Why is the smaller Thule Atlantis 200 440 L box more expensive than the Thule Atlantis 780 480L box ?
Apart from a difference of 40 litres in capacity I am struggling to figure out what is the main difference between these two boxes and especially why the larger capacity has the cheaper price?

The key difference is the length and width of the carriers. The Thule Atlantis 200 is 175x82x45 whilst the Thule Atlantis 780 is 196x78x44. This allows the 780 to be used for carrying snowboards/skis and longer items.
Prices, offers and promotions are all subject to availbility and whilst there is not significant differences in these carriers the key difference to carry skis or not is key to some consumers

The width of the Thule Atlantis 780 480L Roof Box is 78cm.
You should be able to add the Thule 591 Roof Mount Carrier code: 706812, to the side of this box to carry one bike on the roof also
