Questions & Answers for Loctite Loctite 5910 Premium Silicone Black Gasket Maker/Sealant

Question
can I use Loctite 5910 Premium Silicone Black Gasket Marker/Sealant on my cars alloy rims to seal the tyre?
I have a slow puncture from the RIM of one cars alloy wheels.
I have had the tyre checked and there is no puncture in the actual tyre.
In the past I have had the tyres sealed with a black sealant, which worked. But I have moved away from the tyre garage and would like to buy my own.
Is the Black Silicone Sealant suitable or could you recommend something.
I have my tyres fitted at a BMW Dealer and they don't have anything. Thank you

I once owned a mini one which had a leak we couldn't easily cure. To seal the tyre to rim, the person I watched do this for me, used black tyre sealant heavily slapped around the edge of the tyres sides to fill-in those little marks/lines that air was leaking out through and when all this was done I had no issues from then on.

No - Tyreweld is a temporary solution - consult a tyre garage for possible permanent solution

I would say that this product is fine for sealing rocker box covers. It will adhere to aluminium well.

Loctite 5910 is ideal for aluminium, cast iron and painted steel engine component sealing, it (or 5900, a faster cure product) is used by most car manufacturers.

I'd put it on the block but I don't think that this product is designed for use with a head gasket. Usually there is no sealant requirement when fitting head gaskets.

Neither Loctite 5910 or the Loctite 5980 Quick gasket are recommended for head gaskets so don't use them in either application.

The contents of one tube will go a long way - should do several sumps with ease (don't put too much on 'cos it just goes everywhere). A generous smear/small bead on flat surfaces is enough. Don't leave it to cure, just assemble when you're ready - if you leave for more than 1/2 hr you need to start over. I would suggest that you don't refill and run for "a few hours" - overnight would be great.

As a person who has over 35 years as a motocross rider I will only advise to use grease as a way of keeping a new/replacement gasket guaranteed not to cause any grief! But, this could be a formatted joint seal and if it is, do not use anything at all, or you WILL get a leak!

Loctite 5922 would be best for this application. The 5910 is not fuel resistant.
