I use it to clean my chain, and it works pretty well, but i would suggest if your chain is caked with lube/grease/oil then buying a de-greaser cleaner would probably be better

It will take some of the oil and grease off the chain but not as well as a specific cleaner if just sprayed on. Chain cleaner tends to be thicker and applied directly to the chain then worked in with a brush or rag. I guess you could use this with a brush or rag but I tend to use citrus based chain cleaner myself.

answer 5
It will clean chains but needs 3 or 4 applications (along with the brushing of course!) to clear all lube and grime.

No it wont. You will need degreaser for this.
Another method which I use is just as effective. Get some parafin or petrol on an old rag and wipe it down. Then put new lube on when its clean.
Job done!

answer 8
The muc-off bike cleaner is not formulated to remove oil and grease from chains (although it will clean off the splashes form the chain which inevitably get on to the bike frame)
It is better to buy the chain cleaner also.
