Metalic paint has a clear laqure sprayed over it to give it it's shine...

T-Cut work's by removing a very thin layor of paint or laqure to remove either the dirt or light surface scratching that builds up over time etc

T-Cut will work - but eventually, as with non-matalic paint, it will ultimately wear through if used excessively...

I hope this helps!

Question
How to remove dried packing tape residue from my motorcycle?
I have just brought a new bike, and on the chrome finish, the glass for the headlight, the previous owner has in their finite wisdow used the brown packing tape. This has now left a residue. I usually use a autoglym shampoo - would this remove it, or do I need something harsher?

Hello mate - a quick, cheap and easy way to remove packing tape glue, is to use a small drop of petrol or metholated spirit on a rag - it won't harm your paint or plastics so long as you wipe off any undue excess shortly after applying...

Its much quicker, easier and cheaper than buying polish too!

Something like 908285 Sticky Stuff Remover should remove it or just hot soapy water and a good scrub.

T-Cut can be used on any car, any colour. Unfortunately, T-Cut suggests its for light scratches and swirls, but everyone has a different definition of scratches but I believe after testing this out on my car, that if you can rub a finger nail over a scratch and feel the 'ridge' it may be too deep for t-cut. I was told by someone that first thing to do, is use a coloured wax in or near to your car colour, eg. turtle wax colour wax has loads of colours. Is this because its less abrasive.

This product can be used to remove minor scratches as the T-cut process removes a fine layer of paint which also removed permanent dirt and grime.

However deeper scratches will require a product such as Halfords scratch repair kit to remove.

T-Cut Original 500ml may be suitable for this but extreme care will need to be taken when applying the pressure required for paint spec removal. It also depends on if these are specs or are more than this...
