it needs to be baked on as it goes on like a powder. This stuff is fine for exhausts etc but a head/block won't get hot enough

The paint must be allowed to air dry naturally. Once the majority of the solvent has evaporated and the paint is touch-dry the engine should be brought up to full working temperature to cure the coating.

Question
Why is this paint peeling already?
I have applied two coats, leaving about an hour and a half between coats, it was then left for over 24 hours before fitting(due to it being a weekday). I have run it for 4 short runs (about 5 mins each) and I have noticed it is peeling off

You need to get the engine to maximum temperature when the paint is drying.

answer 2
This is likely to be caused by insufficient surface preparation. The surface needs to be fully degreased.

You could however the heat you'll get from your calipers won't be enough to bake the paint on. It goes on like powder coat and just wipes off before its cured.

The VHT range of paints are designed for use without under-coats/primers.
When spraying onto aluminium we would recommend that the surface is abraded / sandblasted.
The VHT paints perform very well on exhausts / manifolds etc where temperatures are much higher.

Theoretical coverage on the VHT Matt Black is 15 square meters per litre, so ~3.75 sq.m for a 250ml tin. This can vary quite a lot depending on coat thickness and substrate type - e.g. textured surfaces requiring more paint than smooth.

Question
Will this paint cure at room temperature?
I've applied several coats and I'd like to know if this paint will cure, given long enough, at room temperature. I would like the have a strong finish before I start putting the engine back in the frame.
Is it worth baking part in an oven (c.220C)? Will the make any difference to the curing process?

Question
How to achieve a smooth finish
Any tip on improving the finish. After several brush applied coats on aluminium, the strokes are clearly visible. I'm wary of rubbing the paint down as it hasn't cured yet.

When fully cured you may want to rub down and potentially re-apply using a smaller finer brush to reduce visable brush strokes

Question
Can your heat resistant engine paint be used on brake callipers?
The reason for this question is that there are more colours in engine paint than in specific brake calliper paint.
