For the Standard 1.9 turbo diesel on a fixed service from 1995 we recommend the 10w-40 part synthetic diesel, on a variable service from 2000 we recommend a 5w-30 fully synthetic oil(VWG 506.01/507.00)
However on a (PD) model on a fixed service (2000 on) we recommend 5w-40 fully synthetic diesel (VWG 505.01) and variable service (2000 on) 5w-30 fully synthetic (VWG 506.01/507.00)

You will find your car should run fine with this oil. If there was ever a "wrong" oil to use it would be this one due to the fact it is OK for most petrol vehicles of all ages no matter what size the engine. Unless you push your car to extremes (racing or arctic driving) there will be no problems.

Although it would not be our primary recommendation for this vehicle, Halfords 5W40 Fully Synthetic Diesel Oil does meet all the appropriate specifications for the vehicle in this case. There is therefore no immediate need to change the oil, at least not before your next planned service at which time it might be best to follow the recommendations we make on our website or in our in-store guides.

No, if you want an ACEA A1/B1 product then you should use Halfords Part Synthetic 5W30 which carries these specifications. Just check that you can use a 5W30 in your vehicle.

answer 1
Halfords 5W/40 Fully Synthetic Dieseil Oil is not considered to be low ash (low SAPS) and therefore wouldn't generally be considered suitable for a diesel vehicle fitted with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). The best way to select the right oil for your specific vehicle is to look in the Halfords application guide that can be found on our website or instore. This will tell you exactly what oil you need to use in your vehicle.
