Varies from model to model. Generally, remove all plastic covers etc revealing terminals. Locate how leads are connected to terminals, most will 'pinched' secure with nuts/locking nuts. These are taken off, the charger leads are then located over the exposed threads and the nuts tightened up against the charger connectors. I secure the end of the connector (the bit you plug the charger into) with some zip ties. Loop one around the end of the connector, tighten enough so it won't pull over the connector, the loop another tie through this one. You then can secure the connector using as many ties as it takes. Keep away from pulleys and radiator hoses etc.

Its at the top of it capability as its output is 3.6 amps but it will do the job.

It would be worth spending the extra on the XS5.

Question
Green and amber lights alternating
When I connect this to my battery the amber (desulphation) light alternates every few seconds with the green (fully charged) light. Is this correct, and what does it mean - is it fully charged or not??

Question
User manual not very comprehensive.
When I connect the charger (to my very flat!)battery,I get the expected amber "Desulphation" lamp lit but I also get the green "Ready to Use" lamp lit(the "Error" lamp stays unlit).
Is this correct?..or does it mean a fault with the battery(I would've still thought that the charger should indictate that if it was).

Hi, thanks for your interest in CTEK MXS3.6 Car Battery Charger.

The charger should be fine and there is at least 2 Volts in the battery. If the charger does not move from the first lamp (Desulphation / bulk) after 24 hours the battery is too badly sulphated (and if a wet battery) stratified to recover. This is possible if the battery has been deeply discharged as suggested.
