I don't believe that its law to where a helmet on private land, however it's always good practice to have the protection afforded by a helmet. I would suggest purchasing a BMX's full face style helmet. For its weight/ratio protection

No, it doesn't need a helmet to be worn. It seems sturdy that the child wouldn't fall off with the 4 large chunky wheels and big seat. It does seem to go at a decent speed though so you may feel a helmet would be safer for your child

It's for off road use only, so it's personal choice, but I probably would.

Ther is no requirement for wearing a helmet as it is not a legal road machine. Due to the height of the quad I would recommend wearing one.
