Questions & Answers for Carrera Carrera Vanquish Road Bike 2011/2012 - Large 54cm

Question
Do you need 'cycling shoes' to ride a road bike such as the one, with or without the optional road bike pedals?
I noticed in a bundle deal that it is possible to purchase road bike pedals with the bike itself. If i wasn't to get the pedals, would I need some kind of specialist foot ware? I would not be racing seriously, just going out on long rides for exercise.

No special shoes are required for the standard pedals, but we would recommend cycling specific shoes as they are stiffer soled and therefore more effiicent.

Question
Fork material?
In the description, it states "lightweight carbon fibre fork with 1-1/8" alloy steerer", but then underneath it states "alluminium fork"? Please could you state what material it is made from?

Apologies for the confusion, the Carrera Vanquish actually has an alloy fork, the spec has been amended accordingly.

Question
Carrera Vanquish weight compared to Carrera TDF?
The weight stated here is for the Carrera Vanquish is 10.9Kg. On this site the weight for the Carrera TDF is also stated as 10.9Kg (although disputed on some review sites.) How come the weight is the same but the Vanquish is £250 more expensive?

Unfortunately, this bike is not compatible with disc brakes - there are no mounts on the frame/forks for the calipers, and the hubs are not disc ready either.

The handlebars are an 'ahead' design, and depending where the spacers are placed, the handlebars may already be as high as they will go (this is how they are set at the factory). Your local store will be able to advise if it's possible to fit a stem raiser to give you more adjustment.

All Halfords bikes are tested to a rider weight of 120kg so it should be suitable so long as it was only used for road riding.
