Question
My iPhone nor my iPod won't connect
When I plug my cable into my phone and the USB port on the stereo it comes up with 'Cannot Play'. Why is this, or do I need to get a cable that didn't come with the stereo itself, even though it says its iPhone or iPod compatible?

depending on which iphone you have, it might be a firmware issue. make sure you have the latest ios installed (go itunes and update). If this isn't the issue, check that your iphone is compatible, there is a list in the manual.

failing that, try a different cable or get it checked in store. also, if your iphone is jailbroken, it might not get read by the headunit.

hope this helps/

The KD-R421 is not iPod compatible, the USB port is G1 spec which means it will only operate USB sticks with a maximum capacity of 2GB.
If you need iPod compatibility then the KD-R521 will fulfil your requirements

Question
what do i need to make my steering wheel radio controls work?
I have a vauxhall corsa 2001 1.2 . I asked in my local halfords, and they told me I would need a multistalk adaptor patch lead pc99-jvc ( as i have a jvc radio model no;KD-R421) and a multistalk adaptor pc99-x06, which I bought, but it does not work the steering wheel controls. Can you tell me do I need something else to make it work, or do I need different bits altogether.

no you dont need any thing else but what you need to do is cut the jack head off take the black and white wire put a connecter on it and do the same to the wire coming from head unit which should be labeled steering control. First connect just the iso wires turn the head unit on and tune in a radio station, then turn off and connect the black and white wire to the blue then turn back on and this should have linked the head unit to the controls.

Question
Aux Input and Steering Controls
Hi, I have been looking for a new radio and found this and was considering buying until I read someone was having difficulty connecting an ipod

Can I just clarify whether or not an ipod could connect through the Aux Input as I don't see why this wouldn't be possible?

Also, my 2004 Renault Laguna has steering controls - would this connect straight up or would I need n adapter of some sort as someone did before?

An iPod can be connected via the Aux-in but will give limited playback facilities.
It is also steering wheel control ready but you will need an adaptor suitable for your car.

Question
Bluetooth audio streaming
I understand the 421 isn't compatible playing an iPhone via the USB port but is it possible to Bluetooth audio stream the songs on my iPhone through my stereo? And if so, how would I go about achieving this?

the USB port doesn't support anything larger than 2Gb.
the best way to hook up an iPhone is to use a mini jack to jack lead and plug it into the front aux input

You will need to connect the optional JVC KS-BTA100 to either one of the two Aux inputs to expand functionality to include Bluetooth handling of calls and audio streaming.
Sorry we do not stock this adaptor.

be aware when programming this unit that there are 2 "pushes" on the big round button - a short push, and a hold - they both do different things.
it can be a bit frustrating following the manual but when you use the unit quite a bit you get used to the different programming quirks
