Question
Lane Assistance didnt appear on my route
I bought a nuvi 1410 at the weekend and used it for the first time today going to work just to test it out.

I drive down the M4, past one junction and turn off at another and at neither junction did the lane assistance image appear. I have trawled through the settings and cant find a 'turn lane assistance on' setting so what is happening there? do I just happen to drive down a part of the motorway that doesnt have those images? it's not like the M4 is a new road or a minor road, its one of the UK's major motorways.

answer 4
Often there is some confusion between lane assist and junction view, Lane assist is an icon that appears in the top left hand corner of the screen showing arrow representing the number of lanes on the road and the appropriate lanes highlighted like this.

Whilst junction view is the 3D view of the screen at selected motorway junctions

There are over 1000 junctions in the UK that are part of the junction view feature, If you want to see them all then you can browse the map at

http://www.navteq.com/ (go to the highlights sub menu and make sure junction view is enabled) this is a way to tell if your junction is on the mapping or not

Question
Lane Assist not available?
I am just about to purchase a Garmin Nuvi 1410 and have downloaded a multi-purpose user-manual, which includes the 1410. Various models are listed as having Lane Assist, but the 1410 does not have this feature.
Could you please advise?

Yes it does have the Lane assist but it is next to useless ! The view appears far too early, disappears quickly, and is gone by the time you really need it ie. when you are at the junction. I think its really a useless marketing gimmick !

Yes it does have lane assist - picture junctions. Very useful but not available for minor roads - where you don't really need it anyway.

Question
My Nuvi1410 got freezed up whilst it was in use. WHY?
As I was driving down the A120 to Clacton near Elmstead and after passing through two speed limits icons that my Nuvi1410 has picked up on, the sat nav screen suddenly got frozen with no response to any of my touches on the screen, yet the voice prompts continued on with the journey.
Have tried to turn the nuvi off from the power button but wouldn't turn off and the screen remained frozen, until the battery had run itself off.
Why did this happen? I'm very disappointed as I only just bought the Nuvi1410 a week ago?

The 710 uses a Type of mount and power cable that is not used on our Newer models of Nuvi, so these 2 accessories will not be compatible with the 1410.

Lifetime updates licences are valid for the lifetime of the Unit they are registered to, If you purchases a new device, you will need a new Lifetime map Subscription.
