Unit does not support any longwave (170Khz-260Khz approx).

According to the BBC, 198Khz (R4 on longwave) will be an irrelevance soon.

The transmitters (1 each in England and Scotland) are very old, there are few spare parts available for it (power valves/klystrons) and they don't want to invest to replace it. Sometime in the next few years 198 will stop working due to lack of spares and that will be it. Replacement parts would have to be individually hand made at great cost, so they say, and it would be hard to to partially retrofit modern circuitry.

yes it will if you connect the antenna power lead to the remote lead on the stereos wiring harness as this will then supply power to the aerial when it is switched on.

DAB radio requires a DAB aerial, so although it may still work, reception will not be very good.

hi you would be able to fit this into your caravan, i believe a sterling eccles is a touring caravan, i am a keen tourer myself, the only problem i could see is that the supplied aerial is magnetic and does have to be externally fitted to get best reception, as the exterior panels on the van are aluminium i am not sure if the magnet will stick, hope this helps for you

Go for it, it would be a perfect sound system for a caravan. I think you can get glass mounted aerials, you could even try the aerial inside, but I would imagine you'll get a better signal if its external. It is supplied with a magnetic roof aerial. The cable is very thin so would fit through a window, or if you were permanently fitting it, could even drill a hole and seal it with silicon. The magnet is not very strong so it can slide about slightly - I put a squirt of spray mount on mine and its solid as a rock. If the caravan is fibreglass you would definitely have to glue it on if you were fitting it permanently. Of course you could just keep it loose and find a good position for it (maybe inside) each time you stop at your caravan site. As for fitting tips, you will need a permanent battery live in order to keep you station presets. If you don't though, it only takes a minute to scan for all the channels, and you then just scroll through the station names.

For the best reception the aerial should be mounted outside, but it may work inside.
Please contact your local Halfords store, they may be able to help with fitting.

I have the same problem. Even shouting into the mic from close distance, the caller still says I'm far away. Disappointing because most of the rest of the radio is satisfactory.

SB50-DAB does not have a gain control but it has passed numbers of environment tests on its Bluetooth handsfree performance to ensure it fits most vehicle environments and users' expectation. We respect individual's experience may vary, therefore SB50-DAB has included also a sun visor clip which allows the mic mounting closer to driver.

Question
Flashing light beneath removable panel?
I had a Sonichi SB50 radio/cd player fitted today. Due to some odd wiring done by a previous owner the fitter was unable to make the player switch off with the ignition.

Now, that I've taken off the removable panel (keeping it safely indoors!) I can see a flashing red light just under the CD slot.

I am concerned that this means that the player is not switched off, even though I know it was off when I removed the panel.

Can anyone let me know if it is normal for this light to be flashing? I don't want to go out to the car tomorrow and find it with a flat battery.

Yes depending on how the radio is wired into the car this is normal, it acts as a security feature if you like, i personally have this head unit and i have a citroen berlingo and the wiring in these are complicated but i managed to get mine to switch off with the ignition by switching the red and yellow wires around behind the radio, but if the previous owner has messed the wiring up it would be a case of tracing the wiring with a multi-meter, and dont worry it wont flatten your battery as the light is led and these consume very little power
