This is not a fault with the stereo rather than the connections between your Car and the stereo do not correctly match up. The usual culprits are the red and yellow wires in the harness that came with the stereo. Simply disconnect the two wires in the middle and swap them over and this should alleviate the problem

There are two power cables for the headunit.

One is continuous, which means that there's some power going even without the key in the ignition, this means it can store your presets, volume settings etc.

The other is switched, which means power only goes to the head unit when you turn your key.
Use a voltmeter to find out which is which and plug into corresponding plugs on head unit.

The buttons on the steering wheel for the radio dont work on the stereo and neither does the display

It will not receive digital radio but MW and LW stations will still work. If analogue FM stations are switched off if/when DAB is introduced their digital counterparts cannot be received, so in that sense there is a degree of obsolescence.

Only when all analogue radio broadcasts stop in 2015 but then again all non-DAB car stereos will without some kind of signal converter.

the fitters will tell you. It is totally universal, and they put in facia to block out any gaps and you would never know.

Well in regards to your tweeters, i'd imagine you'd have a component set comprised of tweeter and woofer or something similar. Either way, it should have its own crossover? You would only need one +/- terminal for each set of components on either side?

Also, yes the 4x45 watt means there is 4 outputs. So typically, your front speakers (woofer AND tweeter) and your rears (6x9s or whatever).
This headunit also has a sub output, so you can also have one of those badboys.

so not really, there is a possibility of 5 speakers (7 if you include the tweeters as being seperate) and thats without using an amp!
