Can this be fitted to a 2000 (x) reg astra or do i need to get a tow bar or adaptor. also do you do fitting?

The Ring EC Approved 50mm Tow Ball is suitable for your vehicle but you will need a tow bar for the ball to fit onto. Unfortunately Halfords don't fit tow balls.

How do I get hold of a tow bar to mount this to?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic 5dr, and from what I can gather I would need a tow bar to mount the tow ball to - but I can't find any such thing on your website, or any advice on how to go about getting your car equipped for towing from scratch. What do I need to buy and where from, in order to be able to fit a tow ball and 7-pin electrical hookup, so that I can then use a tow-bar mounted bike carrier?

The following are required to tow: towbar (Ring EC Approved 50mm Tow Ball), baseplate/bracket (supplied by your local garage) and wiring kit (available at Halfords). Unfortunately, we do not currently offer a fitting service on towbars but many garages will fit all of the above for you.
