Question
Does the Nuvi 1310 definitely have an integrated FM traffic receiver and free lifetime traffic updates?
A previous answer from the Halfords web team states that it does, but the product spec does not mention it, nor does the Garmin website and other websites say that it is "compatibile" but you have to buy the add on. Please advise!

No it doesnt have one and from what I can tell from Garvin website you can't add a receiver either. Nevertheless I am delighted with the 1310. Best I have ever used (compared to audi, bmw, mecedes, honda & Tom Tom). Tom Tom live is good for traffic live updates but no where near as satisfying to use

Question
How can you select a direct route eg. by motorway?
Everytime I have used my Garmin Nuvi 1310 to go on a long journey, it takes me through villages and along country roads, when I know that a more direct and easier route would be via motorway. Is there anyway I can select a motorway or a direct route?

Dont quote me but in your settings.. 'faster route', 'shorter' etc try changing it to shorter or vise versa...the faster for me takes me more main roads but usually the busy main roads, however this is usually the quickest...as the crow flies!!

This can be changed in the settings. There are tick boxes for options to avoid such as motorways/ferries/traffic. I found this out the hard way!

This is an option setting on the device. Yours appears to be set to avoid major roads. Uncheck this & the Garmin will plan routes via major roads i.e. Motorways.

I have tried a number of phones and they all worked as long as you have a bluetooth enabled phone. Very clear audio from the unit too - recommended.

Question
The Garmin 1310 does not include "traffic re-routing". What does this mean?
I'm trying to decide between the 1310 and the 1200T - the 1310 in general seems to be better, but it does not have traffic re-routing. I'm not clear what I would be losing out on by not having traffic re-routing...

The 1200T is able to receive traffic information, thus allowing it to reroute you for the quickest route depending on traffic conditions. It helps you avoid traffic jams and roadworks etc

the traffic re routing tells you an alternative route if you are held up by traffic accident or roadworks etc.

If the lane guidance feature needs to be switched on for it to work on roundabouts etc how do you enable that feature?
Garmin 1310.If the lane guidance feature needs to be switched on for it to work on roundabouts etc how do you enable that feature on the device?
Also is it possible to switch off the feature that tells you the road name of the next turning? I would rather it told me to take the 'next turning on the right, or 2nd turning on left' for example instead of 'turn left down london road' etc

answer 2
The Lane Assist information is embedded in the mapping so there is no need to switch the feature on.
With regards to the road names, when a device reads the name of the road it has a Text to Speech/ Speaks Street Names (TTS) voice selected. It is possible to change the voice so that it will alert you to 'Turn left in x yards' but it will not tell you to take the next/2nd left etc.
To change the voice:
Click Tools Settings Language/ Local Select the voice language Change the voice to any language you require that does not have TTS or Speaks Street Names listed next to it.
The device will now direct you using the distance rather than the road names.
