Use Halfords Adhesion Promoter first (code 156680), then use Halfords grey primer (code 155740) before applying the chrome paint.

Should I use a Lacquer?

I have bought a can and tested the finish. For the price i think it is very decent, but am concerned that it is not durable enough. Since i will be using it on a car part, would you recommend using a clear lacquer to protect and seal it?

Halfords Chrome paint is intended as a decorative finish only and is not suitable for items that will be handled. It should not be lacquered.

Question

Halfords Enamel Spray Paint - Chrome

Can Halfords Enamel Spray Paint - Chrome be used to repair the reflector in a reversing lamp. The original chrome finish has been removed from the metal reflector. Will the painted chrome finish dull or peel with age if it is inside the lamp and isn't handled? I'd use an etch primer - does the primer need to be topcoated before applying the chrome to avoid rust reforming? Many thanks

Although the product would work temporarily I wouldn't recommend it as it will eventually dull with age.

We would not recommend that this product is applied to alloy wheels. It is designed as a decorative finish only and it would quickly get damaged. It cannot be over-lacquered either.

Chrome Spray Covers Brass?

I have a fireplace surround (hole in the wall type) which is brass. I would like this a chrome-like colour instead. Would this product be suitable to cover this brass and if so, would I need a primer first?

Hi, thanks for your question. No, Halfords Enamel Spray Paint Chrome 300ml is not heat resistant, so I would not recommend it.
