Does the Halfords antifreeze contain Ethylene glycol as I have to use this type of antifreeze with Steel Seal for a blown cylinder head. Thank you.

My anti-freeze is 33 months old -
to preserve the anti-corrosion qualities do I need to drain and replace the coolant entirely or could I partially drain it and add (say) a litre of fresh anti-freeze?

Manufacturers advise that you completely replace your engine coolant at regular intervals. Check your vehicle manual to determine how often you should do this.

You might be better with Halfords Advanced Antifreeze which is closer to the product originally filled by Ford.

This is not the same type of fluid that BMW would have used when they built the car. That would have been a product based on BASF Glysantin G48. It is available in the UK and normally is green in colour. This Halfords product would be OK but you would have to change it more frequently (every 2 years) than you would if using the OEM approved fluid.

You require a coolant that meets the requirements of the V A G G12+ specification. Halfords Advanced Antifreeze meets these requirements and should be fine for your vehicle.

Yes, a 5 litre pack of antifreeze and the same amount of water (preferably deionised) will give you the 10 litres you require and the 50% concentration.

You don't give an age of your car but from the late 1990's onwards GM were fitting Organic Acid Technology (OAT) coolants to their cars. Halfords ADVANCED Antifreeze (798785) is such a coolant and would be a better choice.
